Quick Start Guide

Using the Moneybasics Spendometer is easy. Here is a guide to get you started.

  1. Enter your mobile phone number here. The Moneybasics Spendometer will be sent to your phone.
  2. Select weekly or monthly reports – whichever you prefer.
  3. You will be asked if you want to set spending limits. Select ‘no’. You can go back and set them later once you are familiar with the Spendometer.

You are now ready to begin using the Moneybasics Spendometer. You will see a screen asking you to enter the amount that you have spent - simply record a spend in three quick steps:

  1. Type in the amount you have spent on the keypad, using the # key to enter. For example – if you have bought a coffee for £1.80, enter 1*80#
  2. Select a category – so for coffee, select “Food and Drink"
  3. Confirm your entry

Now you are ready to use the handy Spendometer tool!

Useful Tip

When you are entering figures on the Moneybasics Spendometer, use the * key to enter a decimal point. When you have finished, use the # key to enter. So if you have just spent £9.99 enter 9*99#

You can use the Moneybasics Spendometer in this way to track your spending without using any of the other functions – but once you’ve found out how much you’re spending you might want to use some of the other features to help you budget.
